Dealing with Emotions

Holidays can trigger an array of emotions. Any time you are in a relationship with another person, there is a possibility of injury. Oftentimes, holidays trigger a time of reflection where you recall memories with a loved one. Or maybe it is a time where you reflect on a past relationship. Family, friend, or foe, we are all imperfect beings. Either way, managing your emotions constructively is essential. Focus on what you can or could control. Look for a lesson in every experience. Surround yourself with people who appreciate and value you. Manage your expectations of others. Seek refuge in the community if you need strength. Recall the "good." Don't focus on one specific encounter. Guard your heart, and don't become bitter. Move forward establishing and honoring clear boundaries! Choose to believe better days are ahead. Small Beginnings

For a week, I've heard, “Do not despise these small beginnings. Continue the work! The more I meditate on the scripture, the more I am encouraged. I know several people who are in the process of starting a new business, a new endeavor, a new goal, or a new personal pursuit or passion. Some journeys are short, and others are long. You may be one who has become discouraged or feels that what you’re doing is insignificant. You may experience times when you want to quit, and you may become unmotivated because your investment is not yielding the results you desire. Well, let me encourage you: Every season serves a purpose. On my journey of living and becoming, I am learning: My character is being built.
